To our Maribyrnong Business Community,

In this month's edition we are excited to launch our new business platform called Localised.  This new online digital business community will help you promote your business and form working relationships with other local businesses in the community. It is also a tool to find other businesses you can reach out to for quotation of goods and services your business may require.  Best of all it's free and easy to sign up to. You can read more about it in the article below.

In other news, Council recently delivered its first Business Networking Breakfast since 2019 and it was a roaring success! The Line function space was at capacity with 120 local businesses mingling and networking before a motivating and energizing keynote speech by Chris Helder. Guests were treated to a delicious hot breakfast, live music and entertainment and the overall feedback was very positive. Take a look at the video footage from the breakfast, you might see yourself on film!

The cold snap has arrived and there's no better time to enjoy a steaming bowl of Pho, a hot Indian curry, a mug of freshly ground coffee or even a mulled wine to warm your Autumn blues away!  The options are endless in this great city of ours and the Love Your Local platform will help you find new places to enjoy the sites, tastes and sounds of our city.

Best wishes
City of Maribyrnong Team

Council invites your feedback on a Smart City Strategic Framework and Implementation Plan that will guide the future of our Smart City program.

A Smart City refers to the use of digital technology to collect data that can be used to manage assets and resources efficiently. Smart Cities can help create more liveable cities, without compromising the well-being and privacy of their citizens. They are innovative in their use of digital solutions to manage services and infrastructure effectively, improve the wellbeing of the community and the environment, and support a vibrant local economy.

Council is committed to co-designing this Framework with the community and key stakeholders.

The Small Business Digital Adaption Program offers up to $1200 in rebates to help small businesses pay for a range of digital business tools. The Jobs Victoria Fund is providing $250 million in wage subsidies to help businesses with the aim of supporting at least 10,000 jobs.

Businesses may be eligible for a subsidy of up to $20,000 to employ someone affected by the economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Employers can register their business on the Jobs Victoria online hub. They can post jobs and connect with people looking for work. The service is free to use and provides a shortlist of candidates with the skills and experience they’re looking for.

Jobs Victoria Advocates are also helping connect jobseekers with the right services, training and support. Jobs Victoria Careers Counsellors will provide personalised guidance to find work, while Jobs Victoria Mentors will work closely with those who need extra support to get them ready for work.

The Victorian Government has announced that from 28 May density quotients of one person per two square metres will be lifted for small to medium sized venues across the state. This means more people will be able to fit into smaller spaces and should be good news for dining establishments as we head into the colder months.
