After the success of the 2023 International Women’s Day (IWD) event, we are excited to announce our 2024 event will be in collaboration with Maribyrnong council.

Save the date for a lunch on Thursday 7 March, IWD eve.

Through Pitch Your Project funding, Council have partnered with Explore Australia to create the Experience Hobsons Bay Bus Tour. The tour will run Tuesdays and Saturdays between January and April 2024.

With tickets costing $10, the tour is designed to be an affordable add-on to other local experiences. The tour will be supported by media with the aim to attract intrastate, interstate and international visitors.



Submissions for Pitch Your Project 2024/25 are now open! If you have a great idea for a community project for Hobsons Bay let us know.

We’re looking for projects that will make Hobsons Bay an even more vibrant, welcoming and exciting place to live, work, study and visit.

Council is currently reviewing its Events and Festivals Plan, and we are keen to hear from you.

The Hobsons Bay Events and Festivals Strategy provides a framework for the planning and delivery of events and festivals in the city, helping to ensure that the impacts, resources, and benefits are balanced across themes and areas of special interest, across locations and throughout the calendar year.

Tell us what you love about events and festivals in Hobsons Bay, and what you’d like to see more of.  


Changed traffic conditions, including temporary road closures, will be in place along The Strand, Nelson Place and surrounding streets for New Year's Eve.

Roads will be closed from 8.30pm 31 December 2023 until 1.30am 1 January 2024 at:

  • The Strand from North Road to Ferguson Street, Williamstown
  • Nelson Place, between Ferguson Street and Thompson Street, Williamstown, including Syme Street
