Big opportunities for small businesses in Armadale's growth

The City of Armadale is experiencing remarkable growth, creating exciting opportunities for small local businesses to thrive. With a rapidly expanding population—estimated at 109,554 in 2025 and projected to reach 145,843 by 2046—Armadale is one of the fastest-growing regions in Western Australia and across the country. This increasing customer base means more potential customers and greater demand for local products and services.
On average, 11 new residents move to Armadale every day. In 2023 alone, the City’s population grew by 4.21%, bringing the total to over 105,000 residents—an increase of 44.6% over the past decade.
This population boom is mirrored by a thriving local economy, with a Gross Regional Product (GRP) of $3.76 billion as of June 2023—an increase of 3.8% from the previous year. Key industries such as health care, education, construction, and logistics are flourishing, supported by excellent transport links connecting the region to Perth’s major hubs. For small businesses, this means better access to suppliers, customers, and regional markets.
The City’s construction sector is also booming, with $518 million in building approvals during the 2023/24 financial year—a 27.5% increase in residential approvals alone. This growth reflects a strong, confident market, offering new opportunities for business to provide goods and services to a growing community.
With more people, a thriving economy, and increased investment, the City of Armadale is a prime location for small businesses to start, expand, and succeed.
