Welcome to the first Economic Development update of 2026 from the City of Armadale. As we step into a new year, our team remains committed to supporting local businesses and strengthening Armadale’s role as a thriving business and employment hub for our growing and diverse community. Driving Housing Growth in Perth’s South-East CorridorLocal government leaders, industry experts and developers gathered for the sold-out South East Corridor Council Alliance (SECCA) Housing Forum, held on 2 December 2025 at the City of Canning. Led by the City of Armadale and delivered in partnership with Business News, the forum focused on population growth, housing demand and opportunities for well-planned, higher-density development around METRONET stations. A panel featuring Urbis, Celsius Property Group and Cedar Woods highlighted the south-east corridor as one of Western Australia’s most viable areas for future housing growth.  SECCA represents the Cities of Armadale, Canning, Gosnells and the Town of Victoria Park, a community of more than 400,000 residents. United by a shared vision to be one of Western Australia’s most sustainable metropolitan corridors, SECCA continues to advocate for the infrastructure and investment needed to support sustainable growth — ensuring the south-east remains a connected, liveable and thriving place to live. Check out the video and Business News article here Something Exciting is Coming to the Armadale City CentreConstruction of Central Park will commence in early 2026, delivering a vibrant new public space in the heart of the City Centre. Located between the new elevated Armadale Station and Jull Street Mall, the 6,500sqm park will play a key role in supporting the City’s rapid growth and increasing city centre activity. Shaped by extensive community engagement, Central Park will feature shaded green spaces, nature and youth play areas, places to gather and celebrate, and safe, green connections to public transport.
Anchoring one end of Jull Street Mall, with the new Armadale Study Hub at the other, Central Park is expected to boost foot traffic, improve connections and support local businesses. Funded through a $14.8 million partnership between the Federal Government, State Government, Lotterywest and the City of Armadale, Central Park represents a major step in the ongoing renewal of the Armadale City Centre.
Grow Smarter, Grow Stronger, Grow Local.The City of Armadale is pleased to deliver a new round of Grow Your Business Armadale workshops, supporting local small businesses to build capability and confidence. Delivered in partnership with the Small Business Development Corporation, these free, in-person workshops provide practical business development support tailored to the needs of Armadale businesses. Each session is designed to help business owners navigate challenges, sharpen their skills and identify opportunities for sustainable growth. Both workshops will be held at the City of Armadale Function Room, 7 Orchard Avenue, Armadale. Dates and times will be released soon.
The City of Armadale’s annual Australia Day event is fast approaching. This highly anticipated family event takes place on Minnawarra Park and surrounding areas and is expected to attract around 30,000 people to the City to enjoy the spectacular fireworks display, live entertainment and a range of free activities offered throughout the evening. In the lead up to the event, access to the Armadale business district will be affected, along with road closures on Monday 26 January 2026. For further information please visit the event page.
