WA Announces $153.3 Million Manufacturing Investment Program

The Western Australian Government has launched the Made in WA Energy Affordability Investment Program (MEAIP), providing low-interest loans of up to $15 million to help manufacturers invest in energy-efficient infrastructure, advanced manufacturing equipment, production technologies, automation and workforce training.

The $153.3 million initiative aims to reduce operating costs, improve productivity and support the growth of local manufacturing. The survey will be open from Friday 19 June 2026 and will close on Friday 3 July 2026 at 5pm AWST.  

They are undertaking a survey and seeking manufacturer sector feedback to ensure the program effectively supports manufacturers’ productivity, competitiveness and growth across Western Australia.

New Rules for Businesses Sending Text Messages

From 1 July 2026, businesses that send branded SMS messages will need to register their Sender ID with the new SMS Sender ID Register. A Sender ID is the name that appears at the top of a text message, helping customers identify who the message is from, such as “ATO” or “myGov”.

Businesses that do not register their Sender ID will have their messages labelled as “unverified”, which may reduce customer trust and engagement. The new register has been introduced to help combat SMS impersonation scams, which resulted in almost $18 million in losses for Australians in 2025.
